Supporting bereaved children, young people and their families

Tuesday 2 February 2021, 12:30pm to 2pm

If you work with children and young people, you may be best placed to support them if they are bereaved.

For many, empathic understanding in familiar environments may be all the bereavement support they require. Others may need more assistance, especially where a sudden death or complicated grief is experienced.

This webinar aims to help you understand how to provide effective support to children and young people during a time of death or dying. This is even more important during a pandemic where anxieties are raised and grief processes interrupted.

This webinar will:

  • discuss effective bereavement support and the theories that inform best practice
  • look at how to assess the health impact on bereaved children and families and identify practical ways to help
  • explore the impact of sudden, complicated and traumatic bereavement (such as a death by suicide) and effective support
  • launch an animation designed in partnership with bereaved young people
  • explain the Leeds Bereavement Pathway which sets out pathways for accessing additional support
  • discover valuable resources and bereavement services available in Leeds

Visit the WTKMA page to book your place on this webinar.
