Dear resident,
We hope you’re safe and keeping well.
Update on Leeds infection rate
As it stands, the latest figures for the 7 day infection rate is 439 per 100,000 and the positivity rate is 16.1%.
In Leeds as a whole, cases have stabilised since the lockdown was announced two weeks ago. However, some areas have seen a rise in cases which might be due to a minority of people socialising before lockdown was announced. This is why it’s crucial we all work together, carry on following the public health advice and continue adhering to the government’s restrictions to keep ourselves and others safe, and to help bring the infection rate down.
Remember to wash your hands, wear a face covering, and stay 2m apart from people you do not live with.
If you develop symptoms or come in to contact with someone who has tested positive, you must book a test and you and your household need to self-isolate while you’re waiting on your results.
More information on this and support available is below…
What to do after you’ve had a coronavirus test
If you have symptoms, you must protect yourself and others and get tested. Ring 119 or visit the NHS website to book a test.
To find out where your local testing site is visit the NHS website.
Over the last few weeks we have increased testing capacity and introduced new testing sites in a number of locations across the city including:
Bramley Housing Office
Fearnville Leisure Centre
Gryphon Sports Centre
Little London test site
Mandela Centre
Pudsey Civic Centre
Roland Road WMC
St George’s Centre (Middleton)
Temple Green/Moor Park and Ride
What you should do after you’ve taken your test:
- You must self-isolate until you have received your results
- Everyone you live with must stay at home for 14 days from the first day you felt poorly, even if they feel well
You will receive your result via text message within 48 hours of a swab being taken, or within 72 hours for a home test.
You do not need to self-isolate if your test is negative, as long as:
- everyone you live with who has symptoms tests negative
- everyone in your support bubble who has symptoms tests negative
- you were not told to self-isolate for 14 days by NHS Test and Trace
- you have not travelled to the UK from a place with a high coronavirus risk
- you feel well – if you feel unwell, stay at home until you’re feeling better
If you test positive for coronavirus:
- You must self-isolate for at least 10 days. This means you must not leave the house, and it’s a legal requirement if you test positive
- You will be contacted by text, email or phone and will be asked to provide information about anyone you have been close to recently
- Inform your university/employer/school that you have tested positive
- Call NHS 111 if existing symptoms get worse (e.g. difficulty breathing) or 999 in an emergency
Things to consider if you test positive:
- Keep in mind that you should try and isolate away from those that you live with. Clean objects and surfaces you touch often (such as door handles, kettles and phones), using regular cleaning products.
- Wash your hands often, and make sure you open windows regularly and let fresh air flow into the house.
