Dear Resident,
Update on Leeds infection rate
The latest figures for the 7 day infection rate is 437 per 100,000, the positivity rate is 15%. We urge everyone to stay vigilant, carry on following the public health advice and adhering to the government’s lockdown restrictions to keep yourself and others safe, and to help bring the infection rate down.
Remember to wash your hands, wear a face covering, stay 2m apart from people you do not live with and crucially self-isolate if you have a positive test or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive.
Advice for people at high risk from coronavirus
If you are clinically extremely vulnerable to COVID-19, you should by now have been informed by your doctor or in a letter from the NHS. There is additional advice in place for you at this time:
- You should work from home if you can. Your employer should support you to do this. If you cannot work from home, you're advised not to go to work. You will get a letter advising you to stay at home. You can use this letter as proof you're unable to go to work.
- You can form a support bubble with another household if you or they are a single adult; and you can also continue to receive formal or informal care in the way you would normally.
- Staying mentally and physically well is very important at this time – so continuing to take all prescribed medication, attending medical appointments and staying active are all very important.
- You're advised not to go to shops or pharmacies. Instead try to shop online or ask family or friends to collect shopping for you. If you cannot ask a family member, friend or carer to collect your medicines for you, then you are eligible for free delivery. Contact your local pharmacy to arrange for your medicines to be delivered to you.
In order to help you follow this advice in full, we have put in place a range of support here in Leeds, this includes help to register online for support, priority supermarket deliveries, support from volunteers to pick up shopping as well, financial assistance if your income has been disrupted as people who can help you manage your health and wellbeing. If you need help to follow the advice, you can contact us on 0113 376 0330 and we will do our best to assist you or connect you to the right place.
You can also see the most up to date information on local support at: www.leeds.gov.uk/shielding
People who are over 60 or clinically vulnerable due to having certain existing health conditions, including anyone who is eligible for a flu jab, are advised to take extra care to protect themselves.

Parks & litter
Our parks have been used and loved more than ever over the initial and the current lockdown, but they’ve also seen some very anti-social behaviour. For our staff and other park users, please make sure that you keep them tidy by binning any litter or taking it home with you. Let’s all be kinder to our parks!
