Leeds Central Library Opens Tomorrow

Central Library

We have been working hard to make sure that our buildings are safe for both our customer and our staff teams and we are pleased to announce that further libraries are set to re-open in the coming weeks. 

Leeds Central Library (Ground Floor Only) will open at 11.00am this Thursday 13 August 2020. The library will be open for the following services:-

  • Library book returns - drop off your returned library books
  • Library book pick up - pick up books that have been reserved. 
  • Browsing - you can browse the shelves to choose your book
  • Computers - you can book a free 45 minute slot to use a computer and access the internet. To book, please telephone 0113 378 5005.

To reserve a book please use our library catalogue or the library app. If you need help contact our new Order and Collect service on 0113 378 5005 or at libraryenquiries@leeds.gov.uk

New temporary opening hours for Central Library will be Monday to Saturday 11am to 3pm.

The following libraries are due to open during the week commencing 17 August:-

  • Bramley Library and Community Hub
  • Hunslet Library and Community Hub
  • Kippax Library and Community Hub
  • Moor Allerton Library and Community Hub
  • Otley Library and Community Hub
  • Rothwell Library and Community Hub

The date of re-opening of these libraries is yet to be comfirmed - please check the website for further information.

South Asia Heritage Month

South Asian Heritage Month

South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) exists in order to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian history and culture, as well as to better understand the diverse heritage that continues to link the UK and South Asia.
It was launched in the House of Commons in July 2019. To celebrate the first formal celebration of South Asian Heritage Month, taking place between 18 July 2020 - 17 August 2020 we have a great collection of books from South Asian authors for you to discover on Borrowbox
