Night works & road closure: resurfacing & road markings

We are writing to advise you that week commencing 11 May we will be undertaking overnight resurfacing and white lining activities to the carriageway along Harrogate Road, from Street Lane to Shadwell Lane.

The hours of work will be 6pm to 6am, however should the current Covid-19 restrictions be lifted and general traffic levels increase these works may need to start later in the evening.

We expect the works to take 3 nights (Monday – Wednesday) but have an extra 2 nights in our programme (Thursday and Friday) to allow for issues which could delay progress, such as heavy rain.

These works can be noisy, we do however aim to complete the noisiest elements before midnight. Please see above for the diversion route. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Additional information

Where the road closure will be

Whilst we are carrying out these activities a road closure will be implemented along Harrogate Road, from Street Lane to Shadwell Lane.  The closure will be manned and access to properties will be maintained.  A signed diversion will be in place, directing northbound traffic along Street Lane, Scott Hall Road and Harrogate Road, with the reverse for southbound traffic. See above diagram for more information.

Why are we doing this?

As part of the Connecting Leeds project, Leeds City Council are transforming travel by making a range of transport improvements in key locations across the city. Improving our bus network and developing park and ride sites, is an important part of our plans.

Planning

After consulting on plans for Moortown Corner in 2018 and again early this year, Leeds City Council appointed BAM Nuttall to undertake the construction and works commenced in October 2019.
