Paws on Watch

Paws on watch

Paws on Watch is an imaginative grassroots project aimed at recruiting responsible dog owners to look out for and report anything suspicious or unusual to Sussex Police.

Members act as an extra pair of eyes and ears in the local community and, if they feel it is appropriate, promote responsible dog ownership amongst other dog walkers by challenging those that do not clear-up after their dog and offering them a bag.

The project helps Sussex Police and other enforcement agencies to keep an eye out for specific crimes in different areas with members reporting in details.

Paws on Watch was originally launched by the Safer Wealden Partnership and has been adopted by the Lewes District Community Safety Partnership.

Peacehaven Taskforce

The partnership has supported Peacehaven Town Council launch the 'Peacehaven Taskforce' to combat anti-social behaviour within the town.

Whilst Sussex Police continue to tackle incidents of anti-social behaviour in Peacehaven, the Town Council are taking action to prevent the behaviour by providing an environment for young people to take part in sporting activity and engage with positive role models.

Peacehaven Town Manager, Claire Lacey, stated that they’re “encouraging younger residents to take pride in the town and to take action to engage with younger generations.”

Sports-based interventions are well supported by the Government as they can provide the opportunity for young people to engage in education or employment whilst acting as a tool to prevent anti-social behaviour.

The sessions will begin at the start of next year and will be running until December 2017.
