Science Owl inspired 50 young engineers over half-term
Funded by Wandsworth Climate Action Microgrant., Science Owl ran two eco workshops at Wandsworth Libraries over the half-term break, coinciding with Green Libraries Week.
The workshops are part of Science Owl’s Broken Umbrella Challenge, which encourages young people to invent with waste, helping them learn about reducing waste and the circular economy in a positive, hands-on, and STEM-focused way. Children received challenge cards with invention prompts.
One child, picked the card “Design something to solve a problem in your community.” Since his community couldn’t play football on the grass anymore, he created a toy game for them to enjoy instead.
