£4.5m external funding boost for greener buildings
We have successfully bid for money from the Government and City Hall to make council buildings greener and reduce energy costs.
A £4.5m grant from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme will enable us to make five of our buildings, including Putney Leisure Centre, more sustainable and cut energy use by 92%.
Meanwhile two borough schools will get improvements thanks to a £200,000 grant from the Mayor of London’s new Green Schools scheme, saving around £15,000 on each school’s energy bill.

Monday 16 June is World Refill Day – a Global Day of Action to spark a #ReuseRevolution and a chance for you to take action to reduce your carbon footprint.
We’re challenging everyone to join the 5-day challenge – an easy and impactful way to ditch disposables and embrace reuse in everyday life.
Why not try using a reusable coffee cup for the week, make use of the Thames Water refill fountains or start choosing loose fruit and veg in the supermarket instead of plastic wrapped?
Every change you make while help keep unnecessary plastics out of the environment and could save you money too!
