Business for Clean Air Day
This year's Clean Air Day (20th June) theme is ‘Clean, Sustainable and Active Travel’.
Cars and vans are the biggest source of toxic chemicals (NOx) in our air - it is important we take action to reduce emissions caused by these vehicles.
Businesses can help improve local air pollution by reducing emissions. Encouraging staff to take the cleanest and most sustainable method of travel whenever possible.
There are lots of ways that your business can get involved and take action for Clean Air Day and beyond, including:
Joining the Business for Clean Air scheme to reduce your contributions/improve your green credentials.
Attending one of the Council's pop-up events on Thursday 20 June, 11am-3pm, at the Ram Quarter, Wandsworth Town and in front of TK Maxx, Tooting High Street which will feature: A free eCargo taxi service for passengers provided by Peddle My Wheels; Dr Bike sessions to provide a free basic bicycle safety check for your bicycle; Resources on air quality in our borough.
If you are taking part in Clean Air Day activities/would like advice on how to reduce the impact of your business on air quality email maria.vaz@merton.gov.uk.

Businesses urged to sign up to Ask Clive
Wandsworth Council's High Streets team is supporting the ‘Ask for Clive’ initiative during Pride Month, by encouraging shops, businesses and venues in the borough to create a welcoming environment/safe space for the LGBTQ+ community.
The 'Ask for Clive scheme' was founded in 2019 in response to the rise in homophobic and transphobic incidents in the UK. In February 2020 it became a charity with the objective of promoting social inclusion among the LGBTQ+ community by preventing people from becoming socially excluded.
Businesses that sign up will receive a door sticker to let people know that everyone is welcome and discrimination won’t be tolerated as well as a briefing pack.
