London Borough of Culture winner announced 11 March!
At the end of November, for the first time, Wandsworth submitted its bid to become London Borough of Culture 2025. On Monday 11 March we’ll find out the outcome, if successful we hope this will allow us to build on the power of culture to change lives, connect people and improve wellbeing.

Wandsworth Arts Fringe announces first cohort of WAF Associate Producers bringing a fresh programme of theatre, comedy, cabaret
Wandsworth Arts Fringe will return for its 15th year from 7 - 23 June, and audiences are encouraged to leap into the undiscovered with an eclectic programme of art, music, dance, theatre, comedy, film, circus and street performance.
The WAF Associate Producers, DODOMU, Objectively Funny and Rosie Wilby, will bring new artists and audiences into the borough, support emerging talent, and build relationships with Wandsworth communities and venues.
Watch out for the full Wandsworth Arts Fringe programme launch, going live Wed 24 April.

Once again, Wandsworth Arts Fringe will offer refugees and recently displaced people living in Wandsworth free access to all the events throughout the festival.

Black Heroes Foundation are awarded Wandsworth’s Cultural Capacity Grant 2024
Wandsworth’s Cultural Capacity Grant is designed to support the strategic development of a local small-scale cultural organisation or artist collective. This year, its been awarded to Black Heroes Foundation, who have championed Black History and culture for almost a decade.

This Social Prescribing Day we're highlighting MovementWorks' Action for Autism
"The therapy has been life-changing for him, and I will be forever thankful for it. He can now behave maturely – he has even learnt to tell the time.” Lucy, mother of Action for Autism attendee Connor.
Social Prescribing connects people to activities, groups, and services in their community to meet the practical, social and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing. Coming up on Thursday 14 March is Social Prescribing day, and we wanted to highlight NHS South West London's feature on MovementWorks' "life changing" Action for Autism, a movement therapy programme for young people aged 11 - 18 with autism and related differences.
Action for Autism is part of Wandsworth Council's Arts for Health & Wellbeing programme.

Tara Theatre Announces the Abdul Shayek Directors Fellowship
Tara Theatre announces the fellowship in honour of the late Artistic Director, Abdul Shayek, who passed away in August 2023.
The fellowship is designed to address the underrepresentation of practitioners from global majority and lower socio-economic backgrounds in UK theatre, something Abdul fought for throughout his career.

Roots to Change CIC: The Big Reshape Exhibition
To mark International Women’s Day, The Big Reshape pop-up installation is coming to Wandsworth Town Hall! The exhibition features community artwork imagining a fairer and safer world, highlights from our research into what is contributing to violence directed at women and girls and what we could do individually and collectively do to help address the problem as well as information about The Big Reshape programme.

Group 64 Theatre for Young People: Spreading the Joy

Royal Academy of Dance (RAD): Project B
Project B is a celebration of boys and men in dance. The RAD are welcoming dancers to enter their dance competition to win prizes or buy tickets to watch.
Budding photographer? Send in your dance images for their Men & Dance photo exhibition.
They are also offering a range of dance workshops for boys only - from hip hop to ballet to body percussion (family sessions also available).

WIP Space Residencies offer a free 24/7 studio space for 3 months or 6 months to creative practitioners. WIP Space Residencies support the participating practitioners by offering space and time to produce new work as well as a public platform to share and develop their ideas.
The deadline for the next 6 month and two 3 month residencies is midday, Mon 1 April.

Get involved in their 3rd Community Day by hosting a workshop, stall, or by performing in their showcase!

Putney School of Art and Design: Art Competition - The Fountain at the Coronation Gardens
Calling all artists in Wandsworth!
Coronations Gardens is a prominent historical garden in Southfields. The fountain placed in the heart of the garden is undergoing a full refurbishment to restore it to its former 1904 glory.
Are you a Wandsworth Artist? Could you help design this restoration, and make your mark on history? Artists are welcome to submit 2D designs for the new fountain through their preferred artistic method.

Are you a compassionate, caring an open-minded individual aged over 18 years? If so could you commit 1-2 hours a fortnight to volunteer as a befriender for at least a year? You do not need prior experience, personal qualities and values such as empathy, mutual respect and trust, acceptance of self and others, are more important.
Our aim is to offer befriending relationships to adults with experience of mental ill-health, promoting confidence in those we befriend to access opportunities and services within the community.
