Join local author Kamapala Chukwuka for a special story time featuring her books ‘Mummy’s Love for You Will Always Be’ and ‘Ama’s Gift,’ followed by a colouring activity. Recommended for children 2-6 and their families. Spaces are limited, so booking is essential.

The Wandsworth Business Team’s Black History Month pop-up market, which takes place at Southside Fri 14 – Sun 23 October, is a celebration of black-owned businesses and a great opportunity for African and Caribbean business owners to showcase their wares and connect with fellow entrepreneurs.

Omnibus Theatre: Story Circle: DRUM
Story Circle is a free storytelling programme, and the next term will explore the themes of home, migration and belonging. This October, join acclaimed writer, director and actor Nicole Acquah to unlock your boundless potential as storytellers all while enjoying some delicious Ghanaian food!
Story Circle: DRUM is open to anyone who moved to the UK from a country in Africa.

Callout for Creatives! Expressions of interest and applications for WAF Grant funding are open
WAF is back from 9 - 25 June 2023, and we want you to help us make #WAF2023 spectacular.
Since 2009, WAF has brought together hundreds of creatives in a boundary-pushing annual line-up, taking place in every nook and cranny of Wandsworth borough.
We pride ourselves on being a testing ground for bold, experimental work, and we’re looking for professional and emerging artists who want to present their work to new audiences. If you’re involved in theatre, comedy, visual art, dance, carnival, poetry, music, circus, or anything in between, we want to hear from you!
Wandsworth Arts Fringe is a proudly inclusive, open-access festival.

Reflected Perspective in Battersea Park
The final work in the series of five temporary sculptures by the Royal College of Arts MA sculpture students in Battersea Park was installed on the week of 26 September
A rolling programme of newly commissioned, site-specific sculptural installations are temporarily occupying the site of Dame Barbara Hepworth’s Single Form (Memorial) sculpture in Battersea Park from June to October 2022. The Hepworth is temporarily on loan to Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum as part of a major retrospective on the British sculptor’s work.

Ian Wornast: Outdoor Exhibition
Local artist Ian Wornast has created a series of abstracted artworks of Nine Elms landmarks which have gone on public display across the area after being chosen by residents at the ROSE community centre.
You can see all five of Ian’s artworks on public display outside the ROSE Community Clubroom, Ascalon Street, until November 2022.
The free outdoor exhibition was commissioned by the council and supported by ActionSpace

Putney Arts Theatre: Exhibition by Yasmin Grant
A new solo art exhibition by Yasmin Grant has opened at Putney Arts Theatre featuring 40 of her oil and acrylic paintings.
Yasmin is a self taught artist, her work contains different colourful abstract, paintings on canvas, wood, and paper. Her work is an intuitive visual diary of her interior language.

Get creative this autumn with a choice of local classes open to everyone living in Battersea and Nine Elms.
Organised for the local community by Wandsworth Council, all classes run for 10 weeks and started week commencing 26 September 2022.

Arts for Health & Wellbeing Fund
Wandsworth’s Arts & Culture Service is launching a new Arts for Health & Wellbeing programme, to add a cultural offer to the existing Social Prescribing programme in the borough. Apply for awards between £500 and £10,000 to commission a new activity or support the capacity of an existing activity. Applications are open to organisations, partnerships and individuals that demonstrate how they meet the criteria of the fund, provided the proposed activity takes place between November 2022 and April 2024 and is fully budgeted.
Stage 1: projects that take place in the North of the borough and in the Roehampton ward. Deadline: Thu 6 October
Stage 2: projects that take place in the centre and South of the borough. Deadline: Mon 28 November

Cultural Capacity Grant
Wandsworth’s Cultural Capacity Grant recognises that small cultural organisations and collectives need to build management systems as well as programmes to thrive.
This grant is designed to support the strategic development of a small cultural organisation or artist collective who are based and work in the borough to help ensure their future sustainability. The grant of £10,000 is made only once a year and only single annual award is made.
Deadline: midnight Mon 21 November

Are you a compassionate, caring an open-minded individual aged over 18 years? If so could you commit 1-2 hours a fortnight to volunteer as a befriender for at least a year? You do not need prior experience, personal qualities and values such as empathy, mutual respect and trust, acceptance of self and others, are more important.
Our aim is to offer befriending relationships to adults with experience of mental ill-health, promoting confidence in those we befriend to access opportunities and services within the community.
Training course dates:

Sat 3 September, 10am-3.30pm
Sat 17 September, 10am-3.30pm
