'Match our ambition': Sustained investment call after Healthy Streets success
Richmond upon Thames has been recognised as one of Outer London’s top boroughs for healthier, safer and more sustainable streets. The latest Healthy Streets Scorecard shows Richmond has the highest walking rate in London, with 45% of adults walking regularly, and the highest cycling participation of any Outer London borough at 23.9%. The Council is now calling for “sustained investment” from the Mayor of London and Transport for London to help deliver even better outcomes for residents.
Richmond parks celebrate record number of Green Flag awards
Our excellent green spaces have again been officially recognised - winning 25 Green Flag Awards. Heathfield's Jubilee Meadow has become the latest park to gain Green Flag status, making this our highest number to date!
Help keep parks safe and pleasant for everyone, particularly during periods of hot, dry weather. People can support this by taking litter home if bins are full, reporting overflowing bins, avoiding barbecues or open flames in parks and open spaces, disposing of cigarettes carefully, and not leaving glass bottles behind.

Council calls for proportional representation
Leader of the Council, Cllr Gareth Roberts, will write to the incoming Prime Minister calling for them to back electoral reform. The letter follows a motion at Full Council last night where councillors highlighted the importance of different political voices and opinions being heard – calling for the new PM to back proportional representation for local, regional and national elections.

What's Happening?
Centre Stage: Richmond Myths takes over Richmond town centre this weekend!
Richmond will pulse with fun, music and celebration this Saturday (18 July) when the Centre Stage Festival returns to once again turn the town centre into a platform for creativity, community and contemporary culture!
Richmond Myths will be running across the full weekend (17–19 July), bringing even more activity and storytelling to enjoy, curated by Orange Tree Theatre. Catch the Opening Ceremony on Richmond Riverside on Friday night from 6.30pm.
To make the weekend possible some road closures and traffic diversions are in place. On Sunday (19 July), Hill Rise will be closed from Petersham Road up to The Vineyard from 6am until 8pm.
