Richmond Council takes legal action against ‘unfair government cuts’
The Council has commenced the process for bold legal action against the UK government’s proposed Fair Funding reforms, which threaten to slash funding for essential local services. We're challenging the lack of transparency and fairness in the consultation process for these reforms, which could see Richmond upon Thames lose up to £45 million per year - over 90% of its current funding - which would make the borough the worst-hit in the entire country.
Major milestone for Ham Close regeneration as first housing block tops out
The regeneration of Ham Close has reached a major milestone, with the first new residential block officially topping out earlier this week - making a difference for the heart of Ham. The scheme is set to deliver 452 new homes, including the full re-provision of existing social housing and 78 additional genuinely affordable homes!

Celebrating the return of the Thames Towpath from Richmond to Kew
Residents can now enjoy the Thames towpath between Richmond Lock and Kew Gardens, after a year-long programme of major riverbank repairs. The restored section now features strengthened riverbank structures, improved access, and new ecological measures to protect against future erosion while supporting biodiversity. Residents, Councillors and project staff joined together last Saturday to celebrate the reopening of this much-loved route!

Sir Vince Cable awarded Honorary Freedom of the Borough
Sir Vince Cable was awarded Freedom of the Borough at a special meeting of the Full Council on Tuesday night. The former Twickenham MP was commended for his achievements as an exemplary public servant and politician, patron and ambassador for local charities, and being a dedicated resident of the borough!
