Concerts, culture and community: Richmond to host major European twinning celebration this June
Richmond upon Thames will celebrate a major milestone in its international relationships from 6-8 June, as we host a Twinning Reaffirmation Weekend marking 65 years of friendship with Fontainebleau in France and Konstanz in Germany. The celebration will bring together residents, schools and community groups for more than 50 events across the borough – from joint musical concerts, school activities and sporting fixtures to exhibitions, heritage tours and informal gatherings – all designed to reflect the depth and diversity of Richmond upon Thames’ international links.
Opportunity for grants and celebration as Richmond Council launches event for Refugee Week 2025
We're proud to launch a welcoming and inclusive programme of activity to mark Refugee Week 2025, from 16-22 June! In partnership with local organisations and community groups, we'll be celebrating the strength and contributions of people seeking sanctuary in Richmond upon Thames, aligned with the national theme, ‘Community as a Superpower’. At the heart of the programme is a commitment to supporting grassroots action, and in line with this we are offering Refugee Week grants of up to £2,000, funded through our Borough of Sanctuary Grant Scheme established in 2024. Applications are open until 11 June.

You can make a Good Move for your business with our extended cycling scheme
Ahead of our inaugural Richmond Cargo Bike Fair on Sunday 15 June, we have extended our Good Move Scheme to offer local businesses access to a high-quality electric cargo bike for six months at no cost — with no commitment and no hidden fees. During the trial, businesses can test out using a cargo bike for local deliveries, travelling between sites and switching to a more sustainable mode of transport. Find out more about the benefits of travelling by cargo bike for local journeys from parents and business owner Joris!

Strengthening bonds: Celebrating 65 years of friendship with Konstanz and Fontainebleau
As part of this year's Reaffirmation celebrations, the Leader of the Council was recently hosted on a trip generously funded by the City of Konstanz, accompanied by nine A-Level German students from Orleans Park School and Chairman of the Richmond in Europe Association. The visit involved several workshops, panel discussions and community visits which tackled some of the major challenges we face today like climate action and democratic participation.
