We've launched a bold new plan to transform the borough’s nightlife and boost safety
Last night (5 March), we unveiled a bold new strategy to transform the borough’s nightlife, creating a safer, more vibrant, and inclusive experience for all residents, workers, and visitors. The Night Time Strategy, which shapes life in Richmond upon Thames between 6pm and 6am, focuses on improving opportunities for young people, building on the borough’s rich musical heritage, and ensuring a diverse range of affordable activities for all. It also sets out clear measures to improve the safety and working conditions of night-time employees.
Empty Homes initiative revives 150 vacant properties, tackling housing shortages
To mark national Empty Homes Week, we're celebrating the success of our innovative three-year empty homes pilot, which has transformed 150 vacant properties into much-needed homes. We're now using the insights gained over the pilot to develop the next phase of our work on empty homes. As part of this work, we'll continue to take firm action on long-term empty properties by applying council tax premiums with increasing charges for homes left unoccupied and unfurnished for certain periods of time.
