Christmas tree collection and drop off services
Christmas tree collections will run from Monday 6 to Friday 17 January 2025, on the garden waste collection day for your street. This service is free and you do not require a garden waste contract to have your tree collected and recycled. You can also take your tree to one of the drop-off points until Friday 24 January 2025.
To help keep our streets clean, please using our simple form.
Recycle your electrical items
Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be reused or recycled. If you got any new gadgets for Christmas, recycle your old small electricals (up to the size of a two-slice toaster) with our kerbside collections or community banks!
There are also plenty of options available to help you recycle or donate larger electrical items.
Clothes recycling
The start of a new year is a great time for a clear out. We have partnered with TRAID to collect unwanted electrical waste, clothes and shoes from your home. You can book a collection online or by calling 020 8733 2595 and a driver will come and pick up directly from you.
Food waste recycling
We recycle your food waste and turn it into energy and fertiliser. This saves money and helps the environment. We collect food waste from houses, converted houses, and some purpose-built flats in the borough.
You can order a free food waste caddy for your household. Broken caddies can be collected for recycling when we deliver a replacement. You can also pick up a free roll of compostable caddy liners from a local library or Twickenham Civic Centre reception.
Coffee pod recycling
You can now recycle used coffee, tea and hot chocolate pods free of charge at Townmead Road Reuse and Recycling Centre. Simply collect your used coffee, tea, and hot chocolate pods at home in a reusable bag or container, keeping plastic and aluminium pods separate. When ready, book a slot at Townmead Road.
Share unwanted items for free
Richmond Freegle is run by volunteers and enables local residents to give away unwanted items to others in the community free of charge. You can search or browse for free items currently available in you area.

Support Richmond Furniture Scheme
The Richmond Furniture Scheme is a charitable organisation which collects donated furniture and household items in good condition from in and around the borough. The project supplies furniture at low cost to people who could not otherwise afford it.

Repair cafés are run in the borough throughout the year. They are a great opportunity to get broken items fixed by skilled volunteers.
