Richmond Council Updates
Share your views on local trees to inform new planting strategy
Richmond Council is busy planting 800 trees across the borough this winter as part of the largest planting season yet. Residents are encouraged to take part in a short survey to better understand how local people feel about existing tree provision in the borough and where they would like to see additional tree planting happen. Please do take a few minutes and share your thoughts by Thursday 23 January 2025. The final deadline of Tuesday 31 December 2024 to have your say on the climate strategy survey is also quickly approaching.
Women and girls community sports group
As part of the Richmond Moves Together strategy, Richmond Council have formed a group aimed at creating more opportunities for women and girls to participate in sports and physical activity. People who run or work in community organisations are encouraged to participate. To find out more contact Anita Tejaiye (anita.tejaiye@richmondandwandsworth.gov.uk) and Lindsay Cook (lindsay.cook@basis.co.uk).
CPSAN Chair opportunity
Richmond Council are still seeking both Members and a Chair for Richmond’s CSPAN (Community Sports and Physical Activity Network), a networking system across the borough to promote the delivery of Richmond Moves in practice. The meetings will start from early 2025.
Please contact leisureandcultureprojects@richmond.gov.uk if you would like to apply to the role of Chair, be a member or would like to find out more.
Let's talk action on air quality
At the end of October, Richmond Council launched the draft of the refreshed Air Quality Action Plan for 2024-29, which sets out the activities and initiatives proposed to meet ambitious targets for the next five years. The draft Air Quality Action Plan focuses on key locations and groups within the community. This includes areas where pollution levels are highest, where public exposure is most significant, and where vulnerable populations are at risk.
You are invited to provide feedback on the elements of this plan by filling in the online consultation survey.
If you would like a paper copy or another format of the survey, drop in to the civic centre reception, email consultation@richmond.gov.uk or call 020 8871 6000.
To find out more about the plan you can join our January webinar.

The expanded scheme also features an interactive map, making it easier for people to find participating locations by area and filter options for accessibility features like wheelchair-friendly facilities and baby changing stations. Find out more and help spread the word! If your venue is interested in joining the scheme, please contact the team on communitytoilets@richmond.gov.uk
