Your chance to discover more about Merton's heritage

Heritage discovery day

Saturday 17 August sees the return of the ever popular Merton Heritage Discovery Day. Organised by Merton Heritage Service, this is the largest heritage event in the borough and is a free showcase for Merton's colourful past.

The 2024 event will be bigger than ever, with nearly 40 organisations taking part. The event features guided walks, children's craft workshops, displays, drawing and printing workshops, quizzes, story box sessions and stalls from Merton museums, artists, heritage and community groups.

This year you can also learn about Wimbledon Speedway, meet players from AFC Wimbledon and take a selfie with the F A Cup.

There is also a varied series of talks covering everything from Victorian Mitcham and African culture, to textile art, Merton's faith community, journalist Richardson Evans, the Wimbledon Society and the centenary of Motspur Park Station. We will also be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Merton Heritage Centre.

The Discovery Day will take place at Morden Library and the Civic Centre from 10.30 to 4.30 on 17 August.

The main event is open to all. Pre-booking is required for the talks, drawing and story box sessions. We may allow walk-ins on the day, subject to the available space.
