Family Hub Launch
On the 25 of March 2024 we launched an update on Merton Family Hubs. We used the launch as an opportunity to raise greater awareness around the hubs and inform people about our current transformation work.
Here are some of the things we have done to get the message out:
- JCDecaux boards – Family Hub branding advertised on 61 boards throughout the borough with a QR code linking to the Family Hub webpage.
- Revised Family Hub Webpage – This was updated to reflect our recent progress made and has been split up into 6 pages, allowing users to find the specific information they are looking for more easily.
- Social media – Promotional material used in posts for the Family Hub Facebook page and Merton’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.
-
Family Hub introductory Video - link via our Facebook page – Created a video where Majeed Mohammed (Detached Youth Work Manager) explains what Family Hubs are.
-
Bitesize Overview Sessions - A series of bitesize overview modules have been created for each of the 24 ‘core’ services to support all Family Hub partners to develop a better understanding of these.
- New Family Hubs Directory – the creation of a Family Hub Directory which incorporates the current ‘Start for Life’ offer and information about other Family Hub services.
Family Hub Visual ‘Our Merton Family Hub’ (see below) –This will give people a sense of what to expect when accessing the Family Hub.
Introducing our new Family Hub Visual!
Our Family Hub visual pledge gives people a sense of what to expect when entering a Family Hub building.
We know that people take information in many different ways and this visual is just one way to support communication family hub users in Merton. Our visual was designed using feedback from service users, wider partners and colleagues from across the Family Hub team.
The Family Hub 24 core services
Alongside our visual pledge, we now also have our Family Hub Jigsaw. Each one of our 24 core services are represented in the jigsaw.
We will be able to use the jigsaw and the pieces inside to help identify key information about individual Family Hub services going forwards.
We have developed a suite of ‘bitesize overview modules’ detailing the 24 core service areas. These modules are available via the MSCP website
Have you seen the new Family Hub signs?
We've been busy adding Family Hub branding to our buildings.
We want these to be instantly recognisable as a place that families can go to access the advice and support they need. We've started with the main sites and other Family Hub network delivery locations will be receiving their signs soon. Look out for the Family Hub branding in your local area!
Our new Family Hub video
Take a look at our Family Hub introductory video! Majeed Mohammed, our Detached Youth Work Manager, takes us through what a Family Hub means and how this can help and support local residents.
Welcome Hazel! Family Hub Workforce Lead
Hello,
I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the Merton Family Hubs Team! Taking on the role of Workforce Lead this month, I'm eager to start making a positive difference in our community.
My focus here is on improving support for Merton families. I'll be working closely with our team to build a workforce that's not only skilled but also empathetic, ready to address a wide range of needs and handle them with care, especially when it comes to dealing with the impact of trauma.
One of our top priorities is creating a solid workforce development strategy in collaboration with our partners across the Merton Family Hub Partnership. I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you better as we work together to shape this important plan and empower our workforce to be the best they can be.
A little about me: I'm a registered adult nurse with experience in public health commissioning, health policy, and national NHS programmes. Lately, I've been privileged to support Family Hubs programmes in reaching their goals. I'm passionate about transforming the public sector, using digital solutions, and striving for positive outcomes by tackling inequalities across all life stages.
Outside of work, my pride and joy are my three wonderful children. We love spending time outdoors, whether it's playing rugby, football, or going on hikes.
I'm genuinely excited to be starting this journey with all of you. Keep an eye out for updates on all things workforce-related!
Family Hubs - What's Next?
It’s great that we are making positive strides with our transformation to Family Hubs here in Merton. This work would not be possible without the support of dedicated partners and so many enthusiastic parents, carers, children and young people willing to give their insights to shape our development journey. We still have a lot to do between now and the programme end date of 30 September 2024 and will continue to engage our local communities and services across the areas of ‘Access’, ‘Connection’ and ‘Relationship’.
Over the next 6 months, we will focus our work on developing in the following areas:
- Strengthening our digital offer
- Workforce development – ensuring that those working families and young people can access the right training and support to deliver the Family Hub offer
- Establishing a Family Hub registration process
- Widening our range of co-location partners delivering from Family Hub buildings
- Exploring how we can further embed the Family Hub service offer within our local communities through the connected groups and organisations.
Keep an eye out for what's coming up via our bulletin, social media and webpage!
