Early Years Nutrition Webinar
Early Years Nutrition Webinar - 3 November 2023, 10am-11am
Early years nutrition is a critical part of early childhood development and can impact everything from establishing healthy food habits and social behaviour, healthy weight, concentration, good oral health and general wellbeing. Early years settings can support infants and young children to be happier and healthier by nurturing a healthy and balanced diet to support their development in all of these areas.
Come and hear about Westminster’s whole systems approach to supporting 0–5-year-olds. Please share this invitation with colleagues who may be interested.
Merton Integrated Youth Service
We have the highest ambitions for our children, young people and their families. That’s why our youth services are multi-disciplinary with roots firmly within informal and non-formal education. Our Community Based Universal Youth offer is central to this and, as an integral part of the Family Hub model, helps to build resilient children and young people. Our open early intervention access approach engages, supports and nurtures children and young people so that they become school ready, work ready and life ready.
We have a common set of values and principles that underpin the engagement of children, young people and their families:
- Facilitating participation and the active involvement of children and young people
- Promoting equality, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging
- Partnership working with children, young people, families and the wider community
- Promoting personal, social and political development of children and young people
- Active listening of children and young people
- Voluntary relationship with children and young people so that they make the decision to accept or reject our offer.
Here are some of our various youth and play programme access points and examples of work that is delivered, facilitated and co-produced with children, young people, their families and the wider community:
We know we can’t do this alone, so we work with our social and health-based partners to provide outstanding services which promote and improve the life chances of all our users. As Merton's Family Hub youth offer, we’re part of a thriving network of children’s centres, youth settings, libraries and voluntary sector provision, where our aim is to better coordinate the Team around the Family to make sure that all children, young people and their families know how to access the information and help they need.

Thank you Sanjana!
During the last 6 months Dr Sanjana Jio has worked tirelessly and delivered a fabulous piece of work around the Start for Life programme, focussing on the publication of the Merton Start for Life offer, the setting up of the Merton Family Voice panel for 0-2s and bringing together a vast number of early years partners from across a multi-disciplinary network.
On 9 November Sanjana will be leaving Merton, and we are all enormously grateful for her hard work, commitment, skills and expertise in this area of work. The work that has taken place over the last 6 months is really impressive and Sanjana has left a brilliant foundation for us to continue to develop our Start for Life and Family Hub transformation programme. Sanjana, we would like to wish you a heartfelt thank you for everything you have done since joining Merton: your professionalism, extensive knowledge, flexibility, motivation and enthusiasm have really shone through.
Our best wishes for all your future endeavours, please do keep in touch.
Merton Family Hub team.
