Funding from the Household Support Fund, allows Havering Council to again offer a School Holiday Meal Scheme to support eligible families over the summer school break.
The scheme allows eligible families to receive £90 (£15 per week) per child, to buy food over the six week holiday period to replace the meals a child would have received during a school day.
This helps ensure no child in Havering goes hungry during the upcoming school holiday period.
Applications for the summer school holiday meal scheme are now open. You do not need to reapply if you have received money via the scheme previously. Parents and carers of eligible families can apply for funds until 5pm on Wednesday, 6 July.
The funds will be automatically paid into your nominated bank account during the week commencing Monday, 20 July.

Havering Council’s licensing and trading standards teams have been out across the borough checking on whether local retailers are selling age-restricted goods to young people aged under 18.
In recent operations, the teams visited different premises with teenage volunteers. These volunteers assisted officers by going into the businesses to attempt to buy a product that can only be sold to someone over 18, like e-cigarettes and alcohol.
Out of the 18 premises visited, only one business sold an e-cigarette to the young volunteer. Officers will speak with the business as to what action will be taken next and give necessary advice and support.

The first results from the 2021 Census were released this week.
Well over 90 per cent of households in Havering supplied their information online to the Office for National Statistics in March 2021, and the overall number of households in Havering completing the Census questionnaire was among the highest proportions in the country at 98 per cent.
According to the new figures, Havering is the second least crowded borough in the whole of London with only Bromley having less residents per square kilometre of land.
Women outnumber men by more than 9,000 in Havering.
The infographic above provides some of the key initial findings.
Havering Council has released a commemorative film, highlighting many of the celebrations that took place across the borough, in honour of Her Majesty, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The film has been produced by the Havering Council and Wates Residential 12 Estates Joint Venture, with the help of young people from the borough and supported by Mediorite, an award-winning video production company.
The work on producing the video is part of the Joint Venture's social value commitment - bringing wider benefits to Havering residents beyond just bricks and mortar.
Young Havering residents were selected to take part in a paid work experience programme to help make the film possible – including a production training day, and filming experience over the Jubilee weekend.

Last Sunday night (26 June) Havering Council was part of the team responding to a serious road traffic accident on the A127 near its junction with Front Lane (pictured).
The accident caused a mains gas leak that meant a 200 metre cordon was put in place to keep people back from the incident. Residents within the cordon were evacuated, and road closures put in place around the area.
Havering Council always has a liaison officer on duty for incidents like this and our officer Paula went to the Golden Crane pub in nearby Avon Road where residents who had been evacuated from their homes gathered.
Fortunately Paula was not required to open up an overnight rest centre as soon after 11pm the emergency services said that people could go back to their homes.
Paula provided a contact point for local residents and the emergency services, and provided information and reassurance for people temporarily sheltering in the pub.
Paula then escorted residents back to the cordon and was able to remain with them and offer further reassurance as the “safe to return” message had not yet reached the police staffing the cordon. Together with colleague Zoe in the Havering Council Communications team, timely information on the incident, and subsequent road closures, could also be shared on social media.
