All seats on Havering Council were up for election yesterday (Thursday 5 May).
Following a review of Havering's electoral boundaries the number of wards (voting areas) in the borough was increased from 18 to 20 for this election.
Votes have been counted through the night (May 5 - May 6). 28 seats would be required to form an overall majority.
Results have now been declared in all wards with the exception of the three seats in the Rainham and Wennington ward where a recount will be held on Monday morning (9 May).
The overall turnout of people choosing to vote was 34.99 per cent of those eligible.
After all the votes in 19 of the total 20 wards in Havering were counted this is how many Council seats were held by each political grouping:
- The Conservative Party: 20
- Hornchurch Residents Association: 10
- The Labour Party/Labour and Co-operative Party: 9
- Upminster and Cranham Residents Association: 6
- Harold Wood Hill Park Residents Association: 3
- Havering Residents Association - Emerson Park: 2
- Rainham Independent Residents Association (South Hornchurch): 2
The results mean that no single political party or grouping is in overall control of Havering Council.
On our website you can see a full breakdown of how many votes each candidate received in each ward.

This feature shines a light on local businesses that were winners at the recent Havering Small Business Awards.
This time it's the winner of the "Best Tradesperson" award.
Havering's Small Business Awards couldn't celebrate the wealth of small businesses without recognising the tradespeople that always save the day.
From plumbers to electricians, gardeners to carpenters, this award is for sole traders or independent tradespeople who always deliver the best service for the people of Havering and are always on hand when disaster strikes.
In a closely fought category, sponsored by Wates Residential, Joe Wing (pictured on the left above) from Wings Plastering was described as a ‘true professional tradesman with excellent workmanship’ in one of the nominations.
Hugh Jeffery from Wates is pictured presenting the award to Joe a few days later as Joe wasn’t able to attend the presentation evening to collect his award.
