Havering Council has asked the borough’s businesses – including nail bars, beauty salons, builders, decorators, tattooists and cleaning companies – for vital equipment to help the fight against coronavirus.
The Council is asking businesses to donate or sell at cost price stocks of kit known as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as disposable gloves, aprons, eye goggles, masks and overshoes, alcohol hand gel.
The PPE will be delivered to staff working in care and many different roles as local partners deal with the ongoing impacts of coronavirus.

We understand that these are difficult times for businesses. The situation with COVID-19 is changing by the day, so we have put together a new business advice site to share all updates, advice and assistance to help businesses through this crisis.
We will also be hosting a live Facebook Q&A session in the coming weeks to address some of the common questions and concerns from local buinesses. The exact date and time will be confirmed soon, so keep an eye on the advice page, or the next Business Briefing for more details.

We urge business owners and employers, and all of your employees, to please follow all the advice coming from the Government and Public Health England, including:
- wash your hands more than usual and for at least 20 seconds with hot water and soap.
- anyone with symptoms such as a cough or high temperature should stay at home for at least seven days. If you live with other people, they should stay at home for at least 14 days, to avoid spreading the infection outside the home.
- take action yourself to minimise your risk of contracting or passing on the virus. That might mean working from home and not doing what you would normally do around the borough.
- wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available. Watch this NHS video for more tips.
