Many of our residents are worried that plans for a third runway at Heathrow, and an increase in flights at London City Airport, will have a negative impact on their lives with increased noise and pollution.
I share that concern and that is why I issued a statement on those plans. Havering Council is committed to keeping the borough an attractive place for people to live and where businesses will wish to invest. Our recently adopted Air Quality Action Plan is a measure of the Council’s commitment to improving air quality in Havering.
I also want more people in our borough to have access to the best health and leisure facilities and earlier this week I was delighted to see first-hand how much progress has been made on the new Hornchurch Sports Centre. See my short video on this exciting project.
When the centre opens next year it will be one of the best of its kind in Britain, boasting two large swimming pools, a huge health and fitness suite, exercise studio and top class changing facilities. It’s a perfect example of how we can keep Havering special and fitter! Following on from our investments in new sports facilities in Noak Hill, Harold Hill, and Romford, I am determined to deliver similar improvements for the people of Rainham.
Cllr Damian White
Leader, Havering Council

Enter the drawing competition for amateur artists for your chance to win one of three prizes.
