“Phew what a scorcher” as the tabloid newspapers might say!
Over 21,000 people packed out the 41st Havering Show over the Bank Holiday weekend as the community came together for a weekend of music, entertainment, and some of the best weather the show has seen.
The show had something for everyone; from music acts to fun fairs, wrestling displays to farm animals. It also gave visitors a chance to speak to many Council services and local organisations about their work in Havering.
Thank you to everyone who came along and once again made it a great event. We would also like to thank our sponsors and supporters London City Airport, Marlborough Highways, Everyone Active, Time 107.5FM, Razzamatazz, and the Romford Recorder.
I am now looking forward to the Craft Beer Festival we are holding in Romford Market as part of its events programme this September with a variety of beer, live music and street food.
Romford has a rich heritage of brewing beer, so it feels only fitting that we celebrate that in the heart and soul of the town – Romford Market. I hope everyone comes along and raises a glass to our historic market on Saturday 7 September.

Last weekend's Havering Show, sponsored by London City Airport and supported by Time 107.5 FM, was a huge success.
With temperatures reaching 32°C, thousands of people enjoyed top acts including reggae sensation Aswad, iconic British rock band Toploader and club anthem singer Alison Limerick.
Work has now completed on the £1 million regeneration of the areas surrounding Gidea Park Station.
The regeneration, which began in October 2017, has seen a complete overhaul of the look, feel and safety of the station, with new footpaths, road layouts and crossings, and a landscaped pedestrian plaza leading to the main entrance.
Pupils in Havering have been celebrating after receiving their GCSE results.
The borough’s overall pass rate was boosted to a 69 per cent pass rate for pupils taking English and maths – a one per cent increase on last year.
One school, Bower Park, increased its pass rate in these subjects by 20 per cent to 65 per cent.
Parents in Havering are being encouraged to sign up to healthy school lunches for their children ahead of the school gates opening for a new academic year.
The Veggie Run campaign is also getting back-to-school ready by encouraging junior and primary school pupils to eat healthy school-catered meals, with a chance of winning some great prizes .
Veggie Run now has a range of new friends including Halfords, The London Marathon, Stubbers Adventure Centre and many more who will all be awarding sporty prizes to schools and pupils throughout the academic year.
