Dog fouling

This week, as part of the Cleaner Havering campaign, we stepped up enforcement action around the disposal of dog mess and encouraging residents to pick up after their pets.

Along with fellow Cabinet members I joined the Council’s Enforcement Team on Monday in spraying stencils around the borough to raise awareness.

The stencils will be put in areas where there have been complaints of dog mess, but also elsewhere, to act as a deterrent. They will remind people that if they don’t clean up after their dogs, that they could face a fine of up to £1,000 if they don’t dispose of the mess.

If you have a dog please bag up dog mess and put it in a bin. We know that the majority of our dog owners in the borough are responsible and dispose of it properly, so we need others to join them as we look to keep our borough tidy, clean and special.

Leader, Havering Council

Raising money

Pinney Talfourd abseil 2019

Four brave volunteers from local law firm Pinney Talfourd abseiled off the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower in London’s Olympic Park for charity last Sunday.

The challenge became known as ‘Mike Drop’ after conveyancer Mike Robey let slip that he was petrified of heights and so his colleague Richard Collins volunteered him for this challenge.

However, Richard rose to the challenge and along with another two colleagues, signed up. They have raised almost £1,500 so far for Havering Association for People with Disabilities.
