News for Havering residents, Thursday 18 July 2019.
I was delighted to hear this week that we have again been awarded 14 Green flags for our wonderful parks across Havering. This equals our best ever performance in 2018.
With school summer holidays just around the corner, do pay our parks a visit, and encourage children to enjoy and look after these wonderful places that do so much to make Havering special.
Cllr Robert Benham
Deputy Leader, Havering Council

With the school summer holidays about to begin there are lots of activities on offer in the borough to help children achieve their recommended 60 minutes of activity per day.
Havering Council has put together a Summer Fun booklet packed full of information.
There are also many more suggestions of activities over the summer holidays on the Havering Active and Everyone Active websites.
It's Love Parks Week and fourteen of Havering parks, including Bedfords Park (pictured), have once again been awarded Green Flag status.
Parks across the UK are awarded a Green Flag as a sign to residents and visitors that they are among some of the very best in the world. They boast the highest possible standards, are well maintained and have excellent facilities. The recognition is awarded by environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy.
A prosecution that led to fines and costs of over £10,000 has been successfully carried out by Havering Council’s planning enforcement team.
A man was fined for three offences of putting up billboard style adverts on trailers, which are illegal advertisements, in front of Grove Farm, a site on the A12/M25 junction in Harold Hill.
Pupils at Upminster Primary School were on top form as they clinched this year’s Junior Citizens award.
The school was given full marks for their efforts in learning life skills to help protect and keep themselves safe as they make the transition from primary to secondary school.
The project, run by Havering Council and the police, saw pupils taking part in a series of challenges and scenarios to help them cope with everyday life.
Club anthem legend Alison Limerick is just one of a host of perfomers at this year's Havering show.
Alison, best known for her old school hit “Where Love Lives", will be performing on the main stage on Sunday 25 August.
The Havering Show returns to Harrow Lodge Park, in Hornchurch, on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Tickets are available now at a discounted rate of just £3 per day for the show, supported by The Romford Recorder, which features performances from Aswad and Toploader on the main stage sponsored by London City Airport and hosted by Time FM.
There will also be a Sports Zone sponsored by Everyone Active, licensed bars, street food, mini farm and children's attractions.

The meeting, that's open to public, will be held at 6pm in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall, Main Road, Romford.
