 Havering Council has launched a new campaign aimed at making the borough cleaner and tidier, together with the help of residents.
The Cleaner Havering campaign, launched last week, sees an extra £400,000 invested by the Council into street cleaning.
- To support the Great British Spring Clean this year, Havering Council has created five ‘Litter Picking Hubs’ where residents and community groups can borrow a litter picking kit to give their street, local area, or park a spring clean.
Nearly 90 per cent of Havering pupils have received their first choice of primary school.
Figures released by the Government show that Havering continues to outclass most other London boroughs offering just under 90 per cent of pupils their first choice of primary school place. This compares to a London average of 86 pre cent.

There’s a double helping of entertainment for all the family at Romford Market.
Celebrate Easter this Saturday (20 April).
From 11am to 3.30pm children can enjoy an Easter egg hunt amongst the market stalls, free face painting and teacup fairground rides.
Children will also have the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny and Three Little Pigs characters. Music from Time 107.5 FM will keep everyone entertained. The Royal British Legion Band and Corps of Drums Romford will also be performing.
St George's Day celebrations including live music, a Punch and Judy show, face painting, and a kids' craft workshop will take place on Wednesday (24 April).

Returning this August Bank Holiday Weekend, The Havering Show boasts a bigger and better line-up than ever before.
One of Britain's most successful reggae bands, Aswad will be headlining the main stage at the Havering Council event on Sunday 25 August. They'll be performing a number of their hits including 'Don't Turn Around' and 'Shine'.
On Bank Holiday Monday the headline act is iconic British alternative rock band Toploader. They will bring back the feel-good vibe of the noughties with their classic hits like ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ and ‘Achilles Heel’.

 More than 53 governors from 34 schools gathered for the annual Havering Governors Conference earlier this month.
They discussed how governors can support pupils and staff wellbeing and helping to reduce workloads in schools.
Guest speakers included representatives from charity Havering Mind, Havering School Improvement Service and Integrity Coaching, along with Trevor Cook, Assistant Director of Education for Havering.
