 Havering Council is investing more than £18 million over the next four years to open new schools, and improve and expand existing schools to meet the growing demand for places in the borough.
The Council is developing a new programme of projects to meet the need for places from early years through to post-16 and special education. It includes plans for a new primary school at Beam Park, Rainham.
Havering’s Mayor praised pupils from Hornchurch High School for their community spirit when they turned into local volunteers for the day.
More than 90 pupils signed up to get more involved in their local community and to take pride in their surroundings.

The Leader of Havering Council, Cllr. Damian White, has signed an open letter regarding the funding of local health facilities.
Co-signed by the Leaders of Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham Councils, and local health chiefs, it expresses concern at recent capital funding decisions affecting Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge and Havering.

The line-up for this year’s Havering Show has been revealed, with the iconic British alternative rock band Toploader and reggae sensation Aswad headlining the show.
Returning this August Bank Holiday Weekend, The Havering Show boats a bigger and better line-up than ever before.
One of Britain's most successful reggae bands, Aswad will be headlining the main stage on Sunday 25 August. They'll be performing a number of their hits including 'Don't Turn Around' and 'Shine'.

Romford Market will be the place to be on Saturday 20 April for all the family to celebrate Easter.
From 11am to 3.30pm children can enjoy an Easter egg hunt amongst the market stalls, free face painting and teacup fairground rides, and meet the Easter Bunny and Three Little Pigs character. Music from Time 107.5 FM will keep everyone entertained.

 To support the Great British Spring Clean this year, Havering Council have created five ‘Litter Picking Hubs’ where residents and community groups can borrow a litter picking kit to give their street, local area or park a spring clean.
 Havering Council is continuing the conversation with residents and businesses on how to improve Romford Town Centre and the surrounding area.
A series of public engagement events to gather ideas for the Council’s Romford Masterplan began in January and more are planned in the next few months. We particularly welcome comments from any local residents aged 18 - 24. Comments can be quickly and easily made online.

 The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in central London comes into force on Monday (8 April).
It will operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year, in the same area as the Congestion Charging Zone.
If you drive into central London now is the time to use TfL's online vehicle checker to see if you will be affected.
