The Compact Steering Group is committed to expanding the activities offered to the Voluntary Sector and details of the latest events from the Steering Groups action plan are detailed below.

The annual Funding Fayre which was very successful last year and had presentations from The Big Lottery Fund, Spacehive and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Don’t miss out on hearing about key issues at the Compact Forums on Tuesday 12 February at 10am at the Hornchurch Fire Station and on 4 June, venue to be confirmed.

Also, Local Charities Day was celebrated again year just before Christmas. This was very successful and well attended, so look out for this event again this year.

To support the VCS Care Network Havering has emailed its latest updates. If you have not seen this or have not registered, it details training opportunities and the latest updates on grant funding. Take a look.

Upcoming Dates for Compact Forum

  • 12 February 2019 - 10am – 12 noon
  • 4 June 2019 10am – 12 noon

 

Both will be held at the Conference Room, Hornchurch Fire Station, Hornchurch RM11 1SH.

Main discussion will be consultation on the Romford Master Plan.

Big Lottery Consultation

If you would like a free one hour consultation with Lara Rufus from Big Lottery she will be in the Council office once a month, on 8th Floor Mercury House. Dates available are as follows:

 22 February / 29 March / 26 April / 31 May / 28 June.

Voluntary and Community Sector Strategy 2019-2022

The Compact and the Council are currently preparing a new voluntary and community sector strategy 2019 – 2022 around the following themes:

  • Building Communities
  • Building Partnerships
  • Building Resilience

Citizens Advice Havering are always looking for volunteers to help with the service they provide.

Havering U3A meets at 2:30pm on the second Wednesday of the month at St. Michael’s Church Hall, Main Road, Gidea Park.

CCGs’ twitter accounts for local health messages

The three local CCG Twitter accounts have now become one @BHR_CCGs and at time of writing are just short of the magic 6,000 followers mark.

This Twitter account is an invaluable way of quickly getting health and care messages out to the public and partners in real time and also enable local GP groups to share information from other organisations as appropriate.

Vacancy: Chair of Safer Neighbourhood Board

The Safer Neighbourhood Board (SNB) are seeking a Chair to direct their work ensuring this reflects the objectives set out by the London Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC).  The key responsibilities are to chair and direct quarterly SNB meetings and attend other meetings to advance the work of the Safer Neighbourhood Board as required.

Havering Volunteer Centre have teamed up with Skills Network and Wates Foundation to be able to run Lunch & Learn Stepping Stones programme to undertake free skills training in a range of subjects. 

If you or anyone you know would like to gain a recognised qualification please contact volunteering@haveringvc.org.uk and we will do the rest.
