Ofsted’s Chief Inspector has visited The Cocoon in Romford's High Street to find
out more about how the service is supporting care leavers and children in care
in the borough.
Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman (third from left) met young
people and staff at the drop-in service as part of her
visit to the area.
Residents in Havering have been sharing their views on prospective ideas and designs for the borough's biggest housing regeneration project.
The joint venture partnership between Havering and national developer Wates Residential will see 12 council estates regenerated to provide around 3,000 homes for local people over the next 12 years.
The first phase of the work will include the Waterloo Estate in Romford, Serena, Solar and Sunrise Courts in Hornchurch, and Napier and New Plymouth Houses in Rainham.
Residents flocked to a community event held recently in Romford's Market Place. Volunteers and community groups across the borough were joined by Cllr Viddy Persaud, Cabinet Member for Public Protection and Safety and the Mayor of Havering, Cllr Dilip Patel, to look at how working together can help prevent crime.
The event was hosted by the Safer Neighbourhood Board in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, Havering Council’s Community Safety & Enforcement Teams and Trading Standards.

Highways
England has launched a consultation on the latest designs for
the Lower Thames Crossing, a major new road linking Kent, Thurrock and Essex
which would nearly double road capacity across the river Thames.
The
14.5 mile route connecting Gravesham in Kent and Thurrock in Essex would create
a new, three-lane dual carriageway connecting the M2 near Rochester and the M25
in Essex between North and South Ockendon. It would include a 2.4 mile-long
tunnel under the Thames between Gravesend and Tilbury (pictured) that would be the longest road tunnel
in the UK.
Take a look at the plans, attend one of the public meetings that will be held at venues including Upminster, Hornchurch and Romford, and have your say before 20 December 2018 .

Since
the Veggie Run and the West Ham United Foundation partnership was announced
Veggie Run has two new players on the leader board. Last week Adrián and Arthur
Masuaku from West Ham United had a chance to
play the updated version of Veggie Run.
After avidly playing the game and seeing the
benefits for children in Havering, West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku placed his score and challenged pupils, “Is your score on the leader
board?”
Veggie
Run aims to teach children about healthy eating through game play and
in-school healthy catered lunches. Purchase your child a lunch here and they may win a
chance to visit the West Ham Stadium on 7 November.
