The Cocoon, a brand new place for children in care and care leavers opens next Tuesday 24 October,10am, at 38 High Street in Romford.

The new centre will offer a range of services part-funded by a £2.4 million grant from the Department of Education innovation fund. Anne Longfield, Children’s Commissioner for England will be attending the launch event along with the Leader of the Council and Deputy Mayor.

The Cocoon will enable young visitors to develop key life skills with access to training, receive additional education support, learn how to cook and get help with housing and health.

Transport for London, in collaboration with the Police, is running a campaign called ‘Report it to stop it’.   

This campaign encourages anyone who has experienced unwanted sexual behaviour on the transport network to report it to the police.

Havering schools to hit high notes

Music School Oct 2017

Havering Council’s Music School has announced a new partnership that will enhance the cultural teaching of music in the borough.

This partnership with the Office of Education and Cultural Attache, The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, London, will see many local schools benefit from free workshop sessions.

Students will be provided with the opportunity to learn about Indonesian music and dance from highly experienced artists.

Adoption week 2017

This week is National Adoption week, and Havering Council currently needs new adopters for nine children. The children awaiting adoption are either aged three or above, within a sibling group or are from an ethnic minority.

Adoption is a way of becoming the legal parent of a child who cannot live with their birth family.
