'Making a Greater London'
We are delighted to announce a new vision for Havering. ‘Havering – making a Greater London’, is
about embracing the best of what Havering has to offer, and how we as a borough
can play an active role in the success of the whole of London. Our vision is
focused around the borough’s communities, places, opportunities and
connections, find out more and watch the video on our website.

Thursday 2 March
We are celebrating World Book Day in libraries on the 2 March and will be asking the public to write
some ‘Reader Recommendations’ for the books that they have read. This is
a great way for readers to interact, share experiences and maybe try something
new. There may even be some ‘Reader Recommendations’ from local
councillors too.
We have lots of other things going on; St Patricks
school are bringing most of their students to visit Collier Row Library and providing children’s work for display. Gidea Park Library will be hosting a Quiz asking people to guess the novel from their opening lines.

Romford Market House gets go ahead
One of the key elements of an investment
programme developed by Havering Council in partnership with the Mayor of London
has been given the green light.
The Market House has been designed as a
timber-framed structure, partially open at ground level and with an open
terrace on its first floor. As well as café and restaurant facilities the
building will contain a trader room providing facilities to market traders.
Work on the new building is expected to begin this Spring.
