After three years, the Active Living 50+ programme has now come to an end.  Information for the Over-50s can still be obtained through Havering Council. This monthly update will continue, so if you have any information on activities, events, support networks, training or groups, please let us know and will be able to include these in  future issues of the newsletter.

Please help spread the word and share this update with others. Use this link to print and display on your community noticeboard, send to your databases, post on your group’s website or tell family, friends or neighbours. Previous copies of Active Living can be found here.

You can get free publicity for your community event - just complete the online form on Havering Council’s events web page. There is no charge for this service.

If your organisation is planning to hold a firework display, please make sure you have completed the forms required by the Havering Safety Advisory Group and returned them in plenty of time.

There are six branches in Havering - Collier Row, Elm Park, Harold Wood, Hornchurch, Romford, and Upminster and Cranham – with contact details on the website.

Can you help silver surfers?

If you have some time to spare and know your way around a computer you could be the ideal person to help residents of Havering Council’s sheltered housing schemes learn how to browse the web, use email and Skype to keep in touch with friends and family.

Volunteers are needed to work with small groups of residents across the Borough. If you can help please email Kimberly Miller.

Do you like talking with other people?  Have you got some time to spare each week? Tapestry Befrienders are people from all walks of life who visit or telephone an older person each week, bringing a smile to their face. For more information please email Tapestry.
