Camden launches £1m Resilience Fund to support the borough’s voluntary and community sector
This one-off grant, part of a wider range of funding, totalling £1.6m, will support Camden’s VCS organisations to address any immediate short to medium term financial risks caused by the cost-of-living crisis and make any changes needed that will increase their sustainability and resilience.
Further funding made available to Camden’s VCS organisations includes:
- £300,000 Community Response Fund - Assisting organisations to mobilise at a local ward level to enhance their support available to residents to deal with the impact of the cost-of-living crisis throughout the winter period.
- £200,000 Generalist Advice Fund - Increasing the capacity of the Camden Advice Network (CAN) to provide advice through community-based outreach.
- £150,000 Covid-19 Food Insecurity Fund - Supporting food network organisations who are meeting the increasing needs of residents and to address health inequalities and needs that have risen sharply since the start of the pandemic.

Camden Cost of Living Crisis Fund
You can apply for money from our Cost of Living Crisis Fund if you are in urgent need of financial help. Support is available if you are struggling to afford essentials such as food, energy bills or housing.
The amount you can receive will depend on your circumstances and the size of your household. You can receive up to 2 payments over a 12-month period.
The support you receive could be a payment into your bank account, vouchers or help with debt repayments. It could also include appliances to help you reduce costs such as a slow cooker, air fryer or microwave.
Who can apply
To apply, you must:
- be over 18 (over 16s can apply if you live independently)
- have lived in Camden for at least 6 weeks
- provide proof that you are in urgent financial need
We will check our Council Tax database to confirm you are a Camden resident. If you are not registered, we may ask for another form of proof such as a bill, bank statement or benefit letter sent to you at a Camden address.
If there is more than one adult or family in your household, the application must come from the person responsible for Council Tax.

There are several ways to apply for support from our Cost of Living Crisis Fund. You can:
Enrolments for Sports Education and Training Programme for 16 to 19-year-olds
Have you considered a career in sports coaching? If you're aged 16 to 19, you can find out more and sign up for the Sports Education and Training Programme at Talacre Community Sports Centre.
LaSWAP Sixth Form and Camden Council's Sport and Physical Activity Team are now recruiting students for the 2023 programme, starting in September. Students have until 30 July 2023 to find out more and apply.
The Sports Education and Training Programme is an amazing opportunity for young people aged 16 to 19 who want a career in sport and physical activity.
Within the one-year programme, students can gain nationally-recognised qualifications, including a Level 2 NVQ Certificate of Activity Leadership and a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Development.
Many students who complete the programme move on to find paid work as sports coaches, play workers, fitness instructors and teaching assistants. Others go on to more in-depth courses at university.

Guaranteed jobs in coffee through Well Grounded course
Well Grounded's next free 8-week coffee traineeship has a guaranteed job fpr all completers. It includes technical barista skills and accrediation, employability training, and a paid work placement.
The course will begin on 21st February, with in-person training taking place at their East London Academy (but is open to Londoners).

Educational & Training Opportunities
LMP Education
LMP Education are looking to deliver an initiative that will help young adults between the ages of 16 to 24 who have learning difficulties/neurodiversity’s or mental health needs.
We are looking for 100 to 150 young participants who can assist LMP Education. LMP Education are trying to identify if learners in this age group are being marginalised, and if so, provide the correct pre-employment programme to support and guide.
Our qualified work coaches will create an individualised programme for each learner and assist in placing them in a positive destination. Each learner will be eligible to a £250 bursary that is paid in increments throughout their journey with LMP Education.
To be eligible, learners must be aged between 16-24, live in the Greater London Authority area, not be in education, employment, or training, have access to either a laptop or a computer, and have the correct “Right to Work” documents.
