Black History Season 2022 starts in October
It’s almost that time again! Camden’s Black History Season will be kicking off in October, with a packed and exciting programme of art, culture, and health and wellbeing activities running until December.
Whether it’s trying out yoga, learning about entrepreneurship, diving into new literary worlds with book clubs, learning more about Camden’s history on a guided history tour or hearing the stories of local residents and their contributions to the borough, there’s something for everyone in our programme.
The majority of the Camden-run events are free, with a small number of events having a small entry fee.
We’re kicking things off with our launch event ‘Proud to be’, hosted by Diane-Louise Jordan on Tuesday 4 October at Café KOKO, starting at 6.30pm. Join us for this free event as we explore the spoken word, music, Black entrepreneurship, and health and wellbeing. Book your space now.
Then on Wednesday 5 October at 6pm we will be holding a virtual Black Entrepreneurs event, hosted by Word on the Curb co-founder, Ndu Uchea and bringing together a panel of industry experts to discuss building confidence in business, sustainability, and wellbeing as an entrepreneur. There’ll be a panel discussion and audience Q&A. This free event is open to everyone but aims to spotlight Black businesses. Find out more and register.
We hope everyone gets involved in the season this year – keep an eye out for updates on lovecamden.org/blackhistoryseason

Have your say about changes in Gordon Square
We’ve got big ideas for changes on the north side of Gordon Square. Working with UCL we want to close the road here to vehicles (it’s been closed for a while due to building works) and turn it into a space for people to enjoy, with seating, plants and safe cycle lanes. Consultation closes on 4 October.
