The Digital Storytelling Trail
 The Pen to Print Digital Storytelling Trail is an ongoing project to record and share stories about Barking and Dagenham. We are now working with our new partner Bloomberg Connects to bring you a re-developed Digital Storytelling Trail coming soon!
We are using new technology to help read, watch or listen to stories new and old. You can send us photos, drawings, audio recordings, video, poems and stories fact or fiction about anywhere in Barking and Dagenham and add to the trails now!

Participants will be shown and guided through the physical making of a hand-sewn chapbook and learn it's history.
Guided through designing the contents, using your own text and using basic word-processing skills. By the end of the session, participants will have the skills to publish their own work as handmade books.
The session will include a very brief history along with some historical materials to view.
NB: Participants are requested to bring their own laptop/device, if possible, as you will be asked to create word documents for the session.

In their new book, ‘Blitz Kids’, Duncan Barrett and Nuala Calvi, authors of the Sunday Times bestseller ‘The Sugar Girls’, tell the true stories of 15 boys and girls who endured the terrors of the German bombing campaign.
They will share their stories of a research journey which took them all over the country, to meet with more than eighty Blitz survivors.

Barking is a place that has been many things to many people. History is thick on the ground here, in a town that once played host to the most powerful Abbey in the country (which produced 12 Medieval Queens of England), which was founded by a saint.
Author of the TV series ‘The Turkish Detective’ and crime writer, Barbara Nadel, leads the tour and encourages writers to explore the local area, it's history and legends, for sources of inspiration and research.
NB: The tour will last up to 2 hours, sensible walking shoes are recommended.
