This week, we launched an ambitious 10-year growth masterplan to bring more than 20,000 jobs and 10,000 new homes to our borough over the next decade.
Titled ‘People, Place, Purpose’ the Lambeth Growth Plan is a shared blueprint for inclusive, sustainable growth across the borough.

We know we’ve got great strengths in people in Lambeth. We’re a young, diverse and well educated borough, but we also know there’s more to do in tackling inequality and removing barriers to opportunity for local people.
We also have world-renowned places that are already hubs for innovation, from the arts, culture and entertainment offering in Waterloo and South Bank to the vibrant communities of small businesses based in Vauxhall, Brixton, Clapham, Streatham and West Norwood.
Finally we talk about purpose, because as we look forward and think about what we want our borough to be, we have to put our values at the heart of that vision. Equity and justice, sustainability and inclusion aren’t add-ons, they’re fundamental to who we are and the opportunities we want to create.

The Chancellor Rachel Reeves has said the Government’s "number one mission is growth". Our plan shows the vital role Lambeth can play, with four ambitious missions for growth in Lambeth:
Commercial destinations, town centres, and infrastructure: Ensuring Lambeth is home to world-class business destinations and thriving town centres.
|
Growth sectors: Stimulating investment in creative industries, health and life sciences, and clean tech to generate 20,000 more jobs and create a modern, innovative economy.
|
Inclusive talent: Investing in education and skills for 20,000 residents facing disadvantages, supporting people into work, and halving the number of people without a qualification.
|
Housing and neighbourhoods: Enabling 10,000 new homes, as many affordable as possible, to create high-quality, healthy, and sustainable neighbourhoods for local communities.
|
Over the next few weeks, we'll share more with you about the actions behind each of our four big growth missions.
We are committed to delivering bold, long-term change and ensuring that everyone in Lambeth can contribute to and benefit from growth. This plan is a signal of intent to investors, education institutions, developers, employers, and all levels of government who want to help shape Lambeth’s future.
Together, we can make Lambeth a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable borough.
