July is here, and so far, we've been treated to some gorgeous weather with the promise of even more sunshine ahead!
June was packed with many fantastic events, from the lively Country Show at Brockwell Park to all the fun activities happening across our centres. It was wonderful to see so many of our members and to meet lots of new faces too!
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our special events last month, including Father's Day celebrations, Seniors Appreciation Day, Pride Month, and many more. You’ve helped us create a truly vibrant and welcoming atmosphere!

Senior engagement day at Brixton Recreation Centre
Following the success of last month's event in West Norwood, we are thrilled to announce our next Active Lambeth Senior Engagement Day scheduled for Thursday, 17 July 2025. This time, we're gathering at the Brixton Recreation Centre!

Our holiday club at Brixton Recreation Centre and Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre offers an action-packed programme from Monday to Friday for children aged 5-12.
New this year – our Lunch Box Service!
No need to worry about packing meals. For just £5 per day, children can enjoy a handmade sandwich lunch during the holiday club.

Stay safe in the water this summer
As the temperatures rise, so does the excitement about spending time in and around water.
However, it's vitally important not to overlook water safety.
Learning to swim is not just a life skill but a lifesaving one.
We want each one of our community members to feel safe and confident in the water, understanding the risks and knowing how to prevent accidents.
At Active Lambeth we're proud to offer affordable swimming lessons for all ages, from the little ones aged just 3 months, right through to adults.
Our experienced swimming teachers are passionate about not only helping you learn how to swim but also about instilling a sense of water safety awareness. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to improve your skills, we have a programme for you.

Swimming crash courses
Available at Brixton Recreation Centre, Clapham Leisure Centre and Streatham Ice & Leisure Centre, our Swim Crash Courses cater to all skill levels: from beginners to improvers.
Designed specifically for children 4 and above, these courses are a great way to develop swimming skills and boost confidence in the water, in a fun, supportive and safe environment.

Birthday parties now available 7 days a week
Midweek party? After-school celebration? We’ve got you covered!
Birthday parties at Active Lambeth are now available 7 days a week! That’s right Mon – Sunday!
We’ve opened more availability and added new activities to make party planning easier for families. From karaoke and climbing to the sports simulator and ice skating, there are plenty of ways to make the day special.
New this season: Ferndale Community Sports Centre will now be offering football birthday parties on the 3G pitch. Perfect for little athletes who want to celebrate with a kick!

Sustainable upgrades at our leisure centres
Lambeth Council is working toward its goal of becoming net zero carbon in operation by 2030.
As part of this commitment, major sustainability improvements have recently been completed at Clapham Leisure Centre and Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre.
These upgrades include the installation of solar panels, replacement of gas boilers with air source heat pumps, modernised heating systems, energy-efficient LED lighting, improved insulation, and enhanced building management controls.
The anticipated impact:
A significant reduction in energy use and carbon emissions -over 50% energy savings at Clapham and 44% at Streatham.
These changes are expected to not only support our climate goals but also help lower energy costs and contribute to cleaner air in the local community.

Summer recipe🥕🍗🥑
High protein Moroccan chicken with chickpea couscous and garlicky yogurt sauce
This amazing recipe is full of flavour and packed with protein coming from juicy, grilled chicken, moreish chickpeas and zingy yogurt.
Once you try it, it will become a staple of your weekly meals plan!
Ingredients for meat and marinate:
- Chicken breasts Olive oil, fresh lemon juice and garlic
- Spices (cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon and turmeric)
- Fresh coriander, chopped
- Salt and pepper
(You can add fresh or flaked chilli for the extra kick!)
