 Lambeth Council has successfully completed energy-saving upgrades for nearly 700 social homes as part of a Ā£6.9 million partnership with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing. Funded by the Governmentās Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, the project included loft insulation, new doors and windows, and solar panel installations to improve energy efficiency, energy security and reduce bills, helping tackle fuel poverty in Lambeth. The council also conducted 17,000 condition surveys to inform future investments in housing stock.
 Lambeth Council has expanded its OurBike community cargo bike share scheme by adding four new locations, bringing the total to ten. Partnering with Peddle My Wheels, the initiative offers electric cargo bikes for residents and businesses to hire via the OurBike app. These bikes are ideal for mid-range journeys like shopping, school runs, and local deliveries and help reduce neighbourhood level air pollution. New users receive free training and initial free usage minutes.
 Lambeth Council is enhancing the Peckham to Streatham Healthy Route with new safety measures, improved accessibility, and public realm upgrades. The project includes raised footways, a new parallel zebra crossing, widened paths, tactile paving, and better cycle access. Green spaces with biodiverse planting, seating, and play features will also be added. These improvements aim to create safer, greener, and more accessible travel options, connecting key low-traffic neighbourhoods, improving air quality and promoting active transport.
 Try Before You Bike is a flexible bike rental scheme run by Peddle My Wheels in partnership with Lambeth Council, that will help get you cycling. Simply choose your new bike and accessories using the helpful online tools, and the bike gets delivered straight to your door!
It has been eight years since Try Before You Bike launched and we would like to hear from anyone who has used or considered using the scheme.

Soak Up Lambeth: Creating Sustainable Drainage Systems across Lambeth
 Soak Up Lambeth is a £6 million sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) programme launched by Lambeth Council in partnership with Thames Water Utilities and other funders. The project aims to reduce flood risk and make Lambeth more resilient to climate change, to reach its goal of managing 10% of rainwater on impermeable surfaces by 2030. SuDS schemes, including trees, wetlands, and permeable paving, will be implemented across parks, streets, schools, and estates to improve green spaces, reduce the heat island effect, and enhance air quality.
Community Influencers: encouraging cycling confidence in Lambeth
 Lambethās Community InfluencersĀ project, in partnership with Peddle My Wheels, equips 30 beginner cyclists with bikes and training. These influencers document their cycling journeys, sharing experiences to encourage others to cycle. The project aims to reduce traffic and promote cycling as a viable alternative to driving. Influencers provide monthly updates, highlighting the ease of using bike lanes and the health benefits of cycling.
Discover Net Zero Careers: Sustainability work experience with LSBU Green Skills Hub
 Discover Net Zero Careers is a virtual work experience program by LSBU Green Skills Hub, in partnership with Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark councils. It targets residents aged 16 and above, offering immersive learning, expert mentorship, and career growth opportunities in sustainability. Participants tackle real-world challenges, learn from industry leaders, and explore key topics like renewable energy and green technologies. The program aims to build a strong foundation in sustainability and inspire future careers in the green economy.

 New members, Air Aware Labs, a London-based air quality data startup, has secured pre-seed funding to enhance its AI-powered solution and expand globally. Their flagship product, AirTrack, provides personalized air quality insights using real-time data, helping users make healthier choices by avoiding high-pollution areas.

Join Brockwell Park Community Gardens for a session of bird spotting, identifying native species, and making bird feeders with vegan suet and bird seed to take home.
theyāll explore the garden for signs of winter growth, read bird-themed stories, and sing songs together. This cosy workshop includes warm drinks, fun crafts, and great company as you celebrate the season.
This session is aimed at 4-6 year olds. Siblings outside this age range are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Hedgelaying at Brockwell Park ā Multiple dates
Volunteer to help improve biodiversity in Brockwell Park this Winter!Ā The Conservation VolunteersĀ (TCV) will start from where they finished laying the hedge last year, on the perimeter hedge line opposite the third pond (Tulse Hill side) and work north to the Arlingford Road entrance this winter. Work begins at 10 am with a tea/coffee break at 11.30 (provided); lunch at 1 pm (bring your own); finish at 4 pm. Tools and gloves were provided. We will work from the ponds near the Tulse Hill side of the park up to the Arlingford Road entrance.
