Hello,
February marks the start of LGBTQ+ History Month, a time that serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of diversity, inclusion, and the ongoing fight for equality. This year’s theme ‘Activism & Social Change’ is especially significant as we mark 20 years since the month was established.
Lambeth is home to London’s largest LGBTQ+ community, with a rich and proud history of activism, and we honour this history by always standing with our community. As well as a time to recognise the struggles and successes of LGBTQ+ people, History Month is a step on the journey to bringing Pride ‘home’ to Lambeth.
Throughout February, Lambeth Libraries will be hosting a fantastic series of events across the borough. You can find out more and get involved on the Love Lambeth website.

We’ve launched four more OurBike locations around the borough to increase the number of cargo bikes available for mid-range journeys for families and businesses. Lambeth’s Big Shift programme and Peddle My Wheels partnered to expand on the six cargo bikes already available to hire. For new users who don’t have much experience with cargo bikes, Peddle My Wheels offers free training that can be tailored to the routes they plan to use.

Lambeth hosted a Holocaust Memorial Day event at Brixton’s Assembly Hall for the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Holocaust survivor Paula Zeff was the key speaker at the event on Sunday 26 January. She spoke about the parents she lost to Auschwitz, the family in Holland who saved her life from the Holocaust by taking her in, and the new family she found in England after the war.

Keep your family protected from the flu with extra vaccination clinics in February. The school-age immunisation service offers additional flu vaccination clinics at trusted local community centres to ensure no child is left out. These clinics are available for children who missed their in-school flu vaccinations. For other groups eligible for a free NHS flu jab – such as those over 65 or individuals with certain medical conditions – appointments are still available through your GP, local pharmacy, or walk-in clinics.

A new Long-Acting Reversible Contraception Services (LARC) Hub opened on Brixton Hill this week, offering the improvements to healthcare that the women of Lambeth asked for. The refreshed LARC Service Hub is designed to continue to meet those needs identified by residents in engagement exercises. The Hub will provide training opportunities for local clinicians interested in becoming LARC Fitters and appointments for patients whose GP does not offer LARC services.
