Lambeth Festive Jamm 2
Resident Engagement Team collaborated with the social value team, supported by funding from our contractors, to host two fantastic events for Lambeth residents in the Assembly Hall. One of these events was a pantomime for children under 16 and their parents. The children had a wonderful time and was treated to snacks and gifts. This magnificent event provided our younger residents with a great opportunity to experience a pantomime.
The second event was the Festive Jamm 2 providing residents with a free night of dancing, entertainment, food, and prizes.
Feedback from residents were fantastic regarding the delicious food supplied by San Marino and the entertainment offered during the evening. Thank you, to all housing volunteers who went the extra mile to support and work at the event, helping to create such a magical night and the big cleanup afterwards.

Portobello Estate football pitch revamped
The Portobello Estate football pitch has been a constant source of complaint over many years. The uneven surfaces were addressed in early 2024 as part of a general estates programme review.
Following this feedback, the Council arranged for two new nettings to be fitted at both ends of the football pitch. There have been no further complaints from residents since their installation in late November 2024. The youths are enjoying the newly designed football pitch and fostering closer ties with residents. This project has also highlighted the need for holding community events as a ‘listening tool’ and a vehicle for positive change.

Dunbar and Dunelm festive event
The Dunbar and Dunelm TRA decided to do something different over the festive period. The committee booked 41 tickets to see the Polar Express at the West Norwood Picturehouse. All places were filled due to unprecedented demand from estate residents. The lucky ones were children and accompanying adults. There was also a special treat of popcorn and soft drinks at the interval.
Hayley Gay, Chair of the Dunbar and Dunelm TRA said “We chose the West Norwood Picturehouse as it is just round the corner from the estate. It turned out to be a good decision as everyone had a truly memorable time. We would like to thank the Getting Involved Grant for funding the event".

Fenwick TRA had a great 2024
2024 for the Fenwick Estate TRA has been a year of self-development and challenges, whereby the TRA has come out on top, due to self-motivation and teamwork. The Council’s support, guidance and structure has led to a strong TRA. 2024 has been a year full of community engagements organised and funded by the TRA, from the Summer Estate coach trip to Margate seaside, to the Estate Summer party.
October saw a 10-week IT Coding course with 20 children registered from Fenwick Estate. At the Christmas celebration in conjunction with Brixton Chamber Orchestra, there were 60% residents and 40% non-residents. The next project will be an afterschool club for 2025 funded by the TRA. Great successes all round

Mursell Estate TRA
It has been challenging to get a quorum to constitute the Mursell Estate TRA and took 3 attempts to get sufficient residents to meet the quorum. The Resident participation Officer (RPO) Cherlyn worked closely with active dedicated members providing guidance and support. The final opportunity to meet the quorum was at the November AGM. Linda Elliot was invited to the meeting to discuss the Neighbourhood Health Streets; the meeting was a success with 36 residents attending, the quorum was met enabling the TRA to be formally registered and to put in place a plan to curb non-residents driving through their estate.
