Welcome to November's edition of the Lambeth Now newsletter.
As we move into November, we’re excited to share some key initiatives and opportunities to help your business grow and thrive in Lambeth.

We are seeking your input for shaping important projects like our Night Time Strategy, as well as celebrating Living Wage Week alongside local employers.
We also have new business support programmes and exciting events on the horizon, including Small Business Saturday and our current Townhall exhibition. Plus, we’re continuing our work to support local start-ups and businesses with a particular focus on the life sciences sector.

This year Small Business Saturday will take place on the 7th December and to celebrate it, the Lambeth business support team will be at the Feast Christmas Market at the West Norwood Library from 10 am until 1 pm to talk to small business about their challenges and to see how we can provide assistance.

We will be joined by our partners Grow London Local and the London Southside Chamber of Commerce so come down and see us, and make the most of the amazing market while you are there.

Design Your Future Role: The Job Design Lab invites participants to shape future opportunities in life sciences through immersive workshops, in partnership with local community organisations. The programme will be delivered in partnership with impactful local community organisations including Spiral Skills and Oval Learning. We are delighted to announce the launch of IB CREATE, a dynamic new programme designed by Impact Brixton, to provide support where creative entrepreneurs need it most.
The programme is open to creatives across all industries, from artists, designers, and writers to tech innovators and social entrepreneurs. Whether you're an independent freelancer or a small business owner, IB Create is designed to help you thrive. Spaces are limited – you’ll need to apply before December 20th, 2024.

What’s on offer: Industry leaders will deliver workshops on digital marketing, sustainable business practices, financial resilience and the advancement of new technologies. And, for early-stage entrepreneurs, a step-by-step workshop on how to register a business with Companies House and HMRC.
Alongside the workshops, at least 15 businesses will also receive one-on-one mentoring support from a leader in their sector, creating a clear action plan for how to grow and strengthen their business.
Selected participants will also gain a free virtual office package at Impact Brixton, along with free access to coworking facilities.

In recent weeks, Lambeth Council’s Next Us programme, a collaboration between ELEVATE and Lambeth Made, has been making strides in empowering young people to break into the creative industries.
With two successful creative skills bootcamps now complete, local young people have had hands-on experiences in digital marketing, fashion, and music production, helping them explore their potential and connect with inspiring industry professionals. Another bootcamp exploring pathways into film starts next week.
New Internships and Work Placements Now Available
Building on the success of these bootcamps, we are excited to announce new paid internships and work placement opportunities. These opportunities are designed to further connect young people with career pathways in creative and digital fields, giving them hands-on work experience with a range of creative businesses in the borough, and guidance from leading professionals.

Join us at Pitch For Change – Physical Activities and turn your ideas into actionable business pitches! As part of our mission to support active, connected, and age-friendly communities, Lambeth Council is excited to welcome participants from Lambeth, Camden, Southwark, Hackney, Islington, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Tower Hamlets to share their solutions for integrating physical activity into daily life.
At the event, you’ll have the chance to:

Lambeth Council’s Westbury Estate renewal is progressing, with 64 new affordable homes already delivered at social rent, supporting local housing needs. Now, the council seeks a Development Partner for the next phase, aligning with the New Homes Programme and targeting local housing demand.
This opportunity invites developers to contribute to a residential-led, net zero-carbon development, with social rent as a focus, following Lambeth’s Local Plan and values of Ambition and Accountability. Partners will also ensure community engagement and deliver local benefits.
The partnership will be advertised on the Find a Tender Service portal (below) later this autumn, with completion in 10 - 12 months.
