The Lambeth Climate Partnership Platform launches!

LCP Website

Formed in 2022 alongside the development of Lambeth Climate Action Plan, the Lambeth Climate Partnership is a growing network of organisations, businesses and community groups across the borough undertaking climate action in Lambeth. The new platform showcase the ongoing work of the partnership and features:

  • inspiring case studies
  • live project updates
  • resident volunteering opportunities
  • local climate events
  • insights from our members
  • interactive dashboard of our climate goals
  • and the latest climate news from members.

The partnership is for organisations from all sectors committed to taking climate action and having a positive impact on the environment and health and wellbeing of the communities they serve. It aims to create cross-sector collaboration, enabling knowledge and expertise sharing to move Lambeth towards its net zero targets in collective action and achieve Lambeth’s 2030 climate goals.

Lambeth-based organisations that are taking climate action in their objectives, operations, logistics, building management or staff activities are invited to join.

If you are already taking climate action or want to improve your sustainability efforts, join us in making a difference. Together, we can build a more sustainable and just future for Lambeth

Brockwell Park meadow in full bloom!

brockwell meadow

Lambeth’s new network of flower-rich meadows in parks, housing land, and verges have been buzzing this summer, thanks to a lot of hard work from contractors and our outstanding network of volunteers and champions.

We have noticed booming populations of grassland butterflies, where we have created shelter, wildflowers, and long grass all close together. All these are very visible at the new Rewild Brockwell meadow, where the mounds create additional south-facing shelter.

To maintain the meadows and ensure they grow back with more biodiversity for pollinators, most of the Bee roads and other meadows will be cut during August and September. This ensures the seeds can reach the soil and outcompete other species like nettles and thistles that have less benefit to pollinators.

School children use pedal power to Bike the Borough

bike the borough

At this year’s Bike the Borough event, almost 200 pupils from 14 local primary schools took part in the three-mile ride from Brockwell Park to Oval Cricket Ground. Onlookers cheered as they cycled through residential streets and back roads, supported by professional traffic marshals, volunteers and cycle instructors who ensured the route was safe. Throughout the year, the young people have been learning about bike skills and cycle confidence, and this event let them put that knowledge into practice.

Dr Bike

At Dr Bike sessions, experienced mechanics check everything on your bike, from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals, saddles and more.

Any minor adjustments we can make to the bike, we do there and then. If there is anything we can't fix on-site, we will let you know exactly what needs doing and provide a rough guide to what it should cost at a bike shop.

All our mechanics are friendly and approachable and have a wealth of cycling knowledge, so feel free to ask them questions about cycle training or other cycling activities.
