Help Celebrate the Windrush Generation with the Big Caribbean Lunch in Brixton’s Windrush Square
The first Big Caribbean Lunch in Brixton’s Windrush Square last year was a great success and organisers plan to repeat it this year on Sunday 23rd June.
Honouring the legacy of the Windrush Generation, the event comes a day after the official Windrush Day on 22nd June.
The event, running from noon to 7pm, will see 100 original members of the Windrush Generation and their descendants enjoy a Caribbean lunch to a soundtrack of the music they brought with them to Britain.
Fingers are crossed for some Caribbean weather to go with the food and music.
The success of the Big Caribbean Lunch depends on the fabulous volunteers who really make it all happen. Volunteers are needed to help with various roles on the day, from setup to registrations and dismantling. Interested? Let Friends of Windrush Square know! – Sign up to help here.
