Read Easy Lambeth are Looking for Adult Reading Coaches
Did you know that there are 2.4 million adults in England alone who can barely read or cannot read at all? Not being able to read impacts every aspect of their daily life, from getting a job to helping their children at school.
Read Easy Lambeth provides free, confidential, one-to-one coaching for adults who struggle to read. They are looking for reading coaches to meet twice a week for 30 minutes with a new reader at a mutually convenient location. All training is provided and we use the Shannon Trust Turning Pages phonics-based reading scheme which has been specially written for adults.
As a reading coach you will be making a real difference to someone's life. In the words of Reading Coach Jane: "You can’t really beat helping someone to achieve their goals. It’s a real feel-good situation for both parties."

Designed with young people for young people, the programme focuses on increasing confidence and skills in practising physical first aid (with an emphasis on street violence - stab wounds and drink spiking), and mental health first aid, so young people are better able to respond to health emergencies they may encounter in their daily lives.

Brockwell Community Greenhouses are Looking for a Treasurer
Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses (BPCG) are currently looking for a Treasurer to sit on the Board of Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses and help them manage their finances. BPCG is a beautiful community garden situated in the middle of Brockwell Park in Herne Hill. They are a registered charity and fully committed to diversity and inclusivity and would like their board of trustees to reflect this. They employ three part-time staff who offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities in the garden, an education programme for local schools and families as well as a programme of adult work-shops in horticulture, woodworking, preserving and fermentation and crafts. Their new Barn provides a wonderful indoor space for music and community events with a large teaching kitchen, classroom and toilet facilities.
The role of Treasurer is essential to the organisation. BPCG need someone who can not only keep their finances in order and ensure long-term viability, but also help to develop a bold vision for the future. This voluntary position as Treasurer and Trustee is done for the most part at any time of day. However, an ability to do a small part of this during normal office hours would also be useful. In addition, trustees meet monthly in the evenings from 6.30 to 8 at the Greenhouses. The Treasurer has overall responsibility for BPCG finances and management responsibility for a volunteer who does the book-keeping and supports their three part time staff.
