Join us online next week to have your say on licensing private rented properties in Lambeth
You’re invited to our online session on 21 February, to have your say on our proposals for a new selective licensing scheme. We want to improve the standards of private rented properties across the borough, and we need your help to shape our proposals. Property licensing schemes will help us to achieve our commitment of delivering better standards for private renters, by tackling poor housing conditions and improving management standards.

Letter from Regulator of Social Housing
Extract from Regulator of Social Housing’s letter following the Housing Ombudsman’s inspection report on Lambeth’s complaints procedures.
Thank you for sharing the outcome of the HOS’ inspection with us. As you will be aware, we had previously engaged with the Council for some time regarding the issues highlighted in the HOS’ inspection report (including the Council’s repairs service). As part of that engagement, we met with the Council several times. During our engagement, the Council set out the changes it had made to its complaints and repairs service.
We recognised, as the HOS’ inspection report does, that whilst improvements had been made, these would take time to embed. From the recent information provided by the HOS’ inspection report, it would seem that the Council is continuing to make improvements to its service, albeit there remain some areas where continued work is required to ensure that the benefits are felt by its residents. At this time, we do not consider that it would be proportionate to find a breach of our consumer standards given the work and progress the Council has made to date, as well as its commitments to continue to drive improvements. We will therefore not be taking further regulatory action at this time. However, as always, we would expect the Council to inform us should there be any regulatory concerns that arise as it continues to make improvements to its services.
