BlindAid are looking for 'Share London' Volunteers in Lambeth
BlindAid has service users in Lambeth who would like the opportunity to get out to a local coffee shop, go for a walk to a local park or perhaps a quick trip to some local shops – but lack the confidence/ability to do this independently.
Share London is designed to support Londoners who are blind or visually impaired to get out socially with a volunteer who can support them to enjoy some of the exciting social activities that our local neighbourhood and capital city have to offer.
BlindAid are looking for volunteers who would be interested in undertaking social outings with BlindAid service users based in Lambeth – things that you can enjoy together, like going for a walk and talk, coffee and a chat, visiting galleries, parks, theatres etc. With the support of dedicated volunteers, BlindAid aim to reduce social isolation and make a difference to people’s lives and well-being.
BlindAid will provide visual impairment awareness and guide training.
Open to 18+ as BlindAid require an enhanced DBS.

Rathbone Society Inspiring Learning Mentors
A significant number of children and young people in Lambeth are from refugee and asylum-seeking families. The pandemic has put additional pressure on the lives and education of these disadvantaged young people and further exacerbated this attainment gap and inequality. Digital poverty has been a big barrier to young people’s access to and full participation in education.
Rathbone Society's Inspiring Learning Project has been running for the last three years and has supported 90 young people.
Rathbone are looking for volunteers who can commit an hour a week for at least six months to help a student – between Y7 and Y11– with their homework and/or revision in one subject, for example English (many students come from households where English is not the first language), Maths, History or Science. Study support sessions are online, starting 4pm. onwards.
If you could spare one hour a week to help a child keep up with their learning, Rathbone Youth Centre would like to hear from you
