Hello,
Last night, it was our pleasure to host Lambeth Council’s inaugural Pride reception at the Town Hall.
We welcomed members of our LGBTQ+ community to celebrate, share stories and recognise that all play their part in creating a Lambeth that is now home to the largest LGBTQ+ community in London. Lambeth is the home of Pride, and I am thrilled we brought that back to our Council last night.
Today, we turn our attention to another proud chapter in Lambeth’s rich history.
It’s been 75 years to the day, since the Empire Windrush first docked in London in 1948. The Windrush generation made Lambeth their home, and their contribution has helped shape the borough we all love. Our council is proud to celebrate the Windrush generation, and their descendants, and we recognise their contribution to Lambeth, today and every other day, and will continue to fight for justice.
