Soul Shack LDN is looking for drivers to pick up every Friday
The Soul Shack is a youth and lived experience led social enterprise tackling youth violence at the root in London, working predominately in Lambeth. Their main activities are food security initiatives such as free breakfasts, food drives and community brunches for young people who are from low income families, the homeless, and the elderly.
To help facilitate this, Soul Shack needs a driver (and vehicle) who can pick up their food delivery from several Tesco's in Lambeth on Fridays, and bring it to Soul Shack's base at Vauxhall Five Community Centre, Vernon House, Vauxhall St, London SE11 5LQ. This is every Friday and all help is really appreciated!
Please text or call Shanelle Webb on 07402 292 856 for more details, or email Shanelle@thesoulshackldn.org
Ace of Clubs Day Centre - Lunch Service Helpers Needed
Ace of Clubs is a family-like community providing transformative support for homeless, vulnerable and otherwise marginalised people in Lambeth.
The Ace of Clubs centre on St Alphonsus Road provides for the immediate needs of those in desperate circumstances with safety, food, warmth, clothing, laundry and showers.
To help facilitate this essential service, Ace of Clubs are looking for Volunteers help to deliver their vital food services to between 140 and 170 marginalised adults per day. Responsibilities include setting up the dining room for lunch service, food preparation, serving food, and tidying up afterwards.
There is potentially scope for providing practical and emotional support to our guests. The Ace of Clubs has a unique and compassionate atmosphere, where volunteers have the ability to develop important interpersonal skills. Furthermore, supporting the Ace of Clubs can help people to expand their awareness of the health and social care sector, and the inner working of a reputable charity.
Their guests come from all works of life, so volunteering with Ace of Clubs enables you to hear and understand the backgrounds of diverse individuals. Teamwork is also important, as volunteers work closely together as a group.
They would love to have volunteers that can commit to period of 3 month, whether that be a day or more every weeks or a few days per month.
Ace of Clubs looks forward to meeting you.
Read Easy Lambeth are Looking for Adult Reading Coaches
Did you know that there are 2.4 million adults in England alone who can barely read or cannot read at all? Not being able to read impacts every aspect of their daily life, from getting a job to helping their children at school.
Read Easy Lambeth provides free, confidential, one-to-one coaching for adults who struggle to read. They are looking for reading coaches to meet twice a week for 30 minutes with a new reader at a mutually convenient location. All training is provided and we use the Shannon Trust Turning Pages phonics-based reading scheme which has been specially written for adults.
As a reading coach you will be making a real difference to someone's life. In the words of Reading Coach Jane: "You can’t really beat helping someone to achieve their goals. It’s a real feel-good situation for both parties."
